TV Fashion Next Week (Sept. 14–20, 2026): The Emmys on a Monday, Then Two Nights of Ballroom

- The week has one carpet and two ballroom nights: the Emmys on Monday, then Dancing with the Stars season 35 across Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Bravo stacks two casts against each other midweek — Real Housewives of New York City Tuesday, Salt Lake City's season 7 opener Wednesday.
- Two costume-heavy premieres close the week out: The Traitors: New Blood Thursday and Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 Friday.
Quick answer — Two appointments earn the calendar entry. Monday at 5 p.m. ET is the Emmys carpet, the year's biggest single dump of gown photography, and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC is the Dancing with the Stars premiere, where the costume shop starts building from scratch again every week. Everything else next week is a bonus, and the most shoppable hour of the seven is Wednesday at 8 p.m., when a Housewives cast walks around Salt Lake City in clothes it bought itself.
Awards night falling on a Monday still reads as a typo, and yet that is what the 78th Emmys are: a carpet on the first working evening of the week, an hour when most people are not near a television. Then ABC turns around and spends the next two nights on sequins. Seven days, three completely different wardrobe languages.
What is on each night, Sept. 14 through 20?
All times Eastern. This table is what we checked against network and streamer listings; the reasons behind the picks are underneath it.
| Day | What | Where | Why it matters for clothes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon, Sept. 14 | 78th Primetime Emmy Awards — carpet from 5 p.m., ceremony 8 p.m. | NBC and Peacock | Couture and made-to-measure. Nothing on the carpet is in a store, but the shapes decide next spring's. |
| Mon, Sept. 14 | Halloween Baking Championship season 12, 9 p.m. | Food Network | Costume-adjacent kitsch. Not a fashion night. |
| Tue, Sept. 15 | Dancing with the Stars season 35, Premiere: Night One, 8 p.m. | ABC; Disney+ simulcast | Rhinestone, fringe, illusion mesh. Built new weekly, never sold. |
| Tue, Sept. 15 | The Real Housewives of New York City, "Much Ado About Brunching," 9 p.m. | Bravo | Cast buys its own clothes. Findable in a store. |
| Tue, Sept. 15 | New York Fashion Week's final day; R.J. Decker season 2, 10 p.m. | New York venues; ABC | Spring 2027 wraps. Contemporary crime-drama tailoring. |
| Wed, Sept. 16 | Dancing with the Stars, Premiere: Night Two, 8 p.m.; The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 7 premiere, 8 p.m. | ABC; Bravo | Ballroom against real retail, same hour. The scheduling conflict of the week. |
| Wed, Sept. 16 | MasterChef season 16, Finale Part 2, 8 p.m.; South Park season 29, 10 p.m. | Fox; Comedy Central | Aprons and animation. Nothing to shop. |
| Thu, Sept. 17 | The Traitors: New Blood premiere, "A New Dawn Is Rising," 8 p.m. | NBC | Capes, tweed, castle layering — the most copyable styling on unscripted television. |
| Fri, Sept. 18 | Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2, "Remembrance Day," 8 p.m.; The Greatest @Home Videos season 6, 8 p.m. | Starz; CBS | Period costume built in a workshop. Read it for texture, not purchase. |
| Sat, Sept. 19 | Garage Sale Mystery, "Murder Takes Stage," 8 p.m. | Hallmark Mystery | The quiet night. Catch up on Monday's carpet. |
| Sun, Sept. 20 | Best of VMAs: Unforgettable Moments, 9 p.m.; Best Medicine season 2, 8 p.m.; 60 Minutes season 59 premiere, 7 p.m. | CBS; Fox; CBS | A clip show that is largely a fashion clip show. Worth it for archive looks. |
Listings move, especially premiere weeks. Everything above was verified against network and streamer schedules early Saturday, Sept. 12, ET.
Why is an awards carpet happening on a Monday?
Because the ceremony was placed opposite as little live sport as the calendar allowed, and mid-September Sundays belong to football. The practical effect for anyone watching for clothes is that the carpet runs 5 to 8 p.m. ET, straight through the commute and dinner, and the best arrivals land in the last forty minutes of it.
We have the channel-by-channel version of that in our carpet start time and streaming guide, the historical read in what last year's carpet told us to expect, and a running file on the host's looks that we fill in as each one appears. Results, speeches and who beat whom are not our department; that is the reality desk's job.

How much ballroom costume is actually in a two-night premiere?
Roughly twice a normal week. Thirteen or so couples dance across Tuesday and Wednesday, each in a look cut and stoned for that one routine, and a premiere leans theatrical because nobody has been eliminated yet and the show wants every entrance to register.
None of it is for sale, which is the whole problem with loving it. What you can copy is the logic: one high-shine surface, one long line, and skin managed with mesh rather than with cut. The practice clothes are a different story and a different site — our activewear desk keeps the rehearsal-wear list, because leotards and tights you can genuinely buy. Air times and the cast list sit with the reality desk's how-to-watch page.
Which hour next week is genuinely shoppable?
Wednesday at eight, and it is not close. Salt Lake City opens its seventh season the same hour ABC runs ballroom night two, and a Housewives cast dresses itself out of the same stores the audience uses. Tuesday's New York City episode is the second-best version of the same thing.
There is a reason that gap exists between a scripted or staged wardrobe and a reality one, and we laid it out in how TV wardrobes actually work: costume departments build or borrow, stylists pull samples that never reach a rack, and unscripted casts shop retail. Only the third category is purchasable, and it is why our reality-looks file runs longer than the drama one.
What are the two costume premieres worth for a viewer who buys clothes?
Different things. The Traitors: New Blood on Thursday is dress-up in a Scottish castle: capes, high-collared coats, heavy knit, gloves worn indoors. The garments are styled from real brands and the silhouettes translate directly to an autumn coat and a pair of boots, which makes it the most useful unscripted hour of the week after Bravo's.
Friday's Outlander: Blood of My Blood is the opposite: eighteenth-century construction, hand-finished, made in a workshop for one body. Read it for colour and texture — the way a wool plaid sits against linen — and then forget about buying anything. If you want to see how that category gets judged, the costume design Emmy winners from last weekend are a short course in it.
What can you buy now that gets closest to Monday's carpet?
A carpet gown is made to measure, so the honest comparison is not the dress but the effect: one reflective surface, a long unbroken line, and a slit that lets you walk. Three price levels from our sister store, checked against the live product feed at 12:25 a.m. ET on Sept. 12, 2026:
| Level | Item | Price | Sizes | What it gets you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | Backless Satin Slip Maxi Dress With Slit | $23.99 | S–2XL | The long line and the slit, in matte satin rather than sequin. |
| Mid | Strapless Textured Sequin Bodycon Mini Dress | $40.99 | S–2XL | Carpet shine at party length. The texture stops it flattening under a flash. |
| High | Sequin Halter Maxi Gown With High Slit | $53.99 | S–2XL | Closest to the shape the carpet keeps returning to: halter, floor length, one slit. |
Prices and stock change without notice, and the sizes above are the range that was in stock at that check. These are similar styles, not the garments anyone wears on Monday — nobody's carpet dress is available to the public the same week. More of these comparisons live in shop the look.

What did we leave off the table?
Daytime, mostly. Today, Good Morning America and The View all run five mornings next week and all three will spend part of Tuesday on the carpet, but morning-show host wardrobe is week-to-week noise and we only write it up when a segment is actually about clothes. If one appears we will file it under daytime style.
We also left off football, three true-crime premieres and a handful of streaming titles whose dates are still marked provisional in the listings we can check — a couple of them are period pieces that would belong here if they hold. For anything that is about when an episode drops rather than what is in it, the streaming desk keeps the times, and Wednesday's MasterChef result sits with the kitchen desk. Last week's version of this page is still up as TV fashion this week, Sept. 8–14, and the red carpet file is where Monday's aftermath will land.
Will this page change during the week?
Yes, and in one specific place. After the carpet we will add a line to the Monday row of the table pointing at our carpet write-up, on Tuesday morning ET, at this same URL. The ballroom rows get the same treatment once the two premiere nights have aired. Nothing gets deleted; the table only gains.
If a listing above turns out to be wrong, the correction goes in this paragraph rather than quietly into the table.
