TV Fashion This Week (Sept. 8–14, 2026): A Housewives Premiere, a Runway Finale, and the Emmys on a Monday

Quick answer — If you only watch two things this week for the clothes, make them Thursday at 10 p.m. ET (the Project Runway season 22 finale on Freeform, the same day New York Fashion Week opens) and Monday at 5 p.m. ET (the Emmys carpet). Tuesday's Real Housewives of New York City premiere at 8 p.m. on Bravo is the best of the rest, because reality cast members buy their own clothes and those are the only garments on television you can reliably find in a store.

Why is there no Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday?
Because season 35 has not started yet. The premiere is a two-night event on Sept. 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+, after which the show settles into Tuesdays.

What should you actually look at on Tuesday night?
The Housewives premiere, and specifically the group scenes rather than the confessionals. Confessional looks are chosen to survive a static camera and tend toward bright solid-color bodycon, which is a costume convention rather than anything anybody wears to dinner.

New York Fashion Week opens with Henry Zankov's debut collection as artistic director at Diane von Furstenberg, running through Sept. 15 with roughly seventy shows and presentations on the official schedule. It is also the first New York season under the council's fur-free policy, which will change what walks more than any trend forecast will.
At 10 p.m., Project Runway ends its twenty-second season on Freeform. A finale is the one hour of television all year where garment construction is the actual subject — where a judge says the word "seam" out loud and means it. What happens to the daytime schedule on Friday?
Friday is Sept. 11, and this year is the twenty-fifth anniversary. Morning shows will run commemorative coverage from Lower Manhattan, primetime carries tribute programming on ABC, CBS and Lifetime, and the fashion week schedule itself has pushed its Friday start to 10 a.m. out of respect.

Is the Saturday Creative Arts broadcast worth two hours?
For this audience, yes — more than Monday is, arguably. The costume design awards are handed out at the Creative Arts ceremonies, not on the main telecast, and this is the edited broadcast of both nights, airing at 8 p.m. on FXX.
The Television Academy splits costume design into period, contemporary and fantasy or science fiction, plus separate awards for limited series and for variety, nonfiction and reality programming. Watching the acceptance speeches is the fastest way to learn how much of what you see on a screen was built rather than bought.
How should you plan Monday?
Carpet feeds open at 5 p.m. Eastern; the ceremony starts at 8 on NBC and Peacock from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with Mariska Hargitay hosting. The clothes peak in the second carpet hour rather than the third.

Is New York Fashion Week open to the public?
Mostly not. The official schedule is trade and press, though a handful of presentations and pop-ups each season are ticketed. The shows themselves are streamed by the designers and by trade publications, usually within a day.
When does the fall reality wardrobe wave really start?
Next week. With the Housewives premiere Tuesday and Dancing with the Stars returning Sept. 15, plus a Salt Lake City premiere on Sept. 16, the second half of September is when the volume arrives.
