How did the costume team rebuild the wedding dress?

Mance told W Magazine that his team traced the original silk to B&J Fabrics in New York, then found the European mill still producing it and ordered the same cloth in the same color. The veil and gloves were remade from the manufacturers' surviving materials and sketches. That is a long way to go for a dress that looks, on screen, like almost nothing, which was exactly the point.

Did the clothes cost Sarah Pidgeon anything?

Her skin, briefly. Pidgeon told The Hollywood Reporter that shooting a summer in Hyannis, Massachusetts, in cashmere turtlenecks and jeans gave her a heat rash that turned into psoriasis. A black-knit uniform photographs well in October. In July it is a costume, in the hardest sense of the word.

It did not lose to nothing. The Television Academy's Period Costumes award went to Palm Royale, a show built on 1960s Palm Beach color, and costume voters tend to reward visible volume.
